“Be Creative @ Your Library”, this summer, in the Children’s Room and explore the arts, music, dance writing, books and puppetry. This year’s Summer Reading club begins June 8^th and lasts until August 7^th.The artwork for this year’s theme was created by a master of illustration mayhem and frivolity, David Catrow. His familiar works of art can be seen in books such as “Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon” and “Take Me Out of the Bathtub and Other Silly Dilly Songs”.

The summer program is open to children from toddlers to those leaving 6^th grade. Incentives, activities and concerts will make this an inspiring nine weeks for the whole family.

This year’s reading club will also bring out the budding artist in children. All activities will have a “Creative “ theme, and special programs will include the annual pet show on July 11^th which is cosponsored by Dad’s Products, a concert by Rachel Sumner on July 27, and a performance by Digeridoo Down Under on August 14.

Each arts & crafts program will be divided into two activities- one for younger children and one for older elementary aged children.

To participate, a child must be a member of one of Crawford County’s libraries. Preschoolers and summer visitors will receive a summer card. A special notebook will be issued to record each reader’s and listener’s progress through summer reading pleasure and prizes.

For every library book read, children will get a stamp on their notebook. Preschoolers must listen to two books to get a stamp. For every four stamps, a prize may be selected from the display case. When 12 stamps have been collected, participants qualify for two chances to win one of the Grand Prizes. The drawing for the prizes will be during our Summer Reading Club Party scheduled at 10 am on August 7^th.
